Atilivs Ironworks. Hand-forged blades and historical metalwork by Corey Peterson.
Every piece in this shop is built by hand, one at a time. Knives, seaxes, fittings, tools, and hardware grounded in historical research. Anglo-Scandinavian, Roman, Norse, and medieval forms inform most of the work.
I make two kinds of pieces. Reproductions based on documented archaeological finds, with sources cited. And inspired pieces that pull from historical forms without claiming to be exact copies. I’ll always tell you which one you’re looking at.
Materials matter. I work with high carbon steels like 1075 and 1084, often paired with wrought iron pulled from anchor chain or other reclaimed sources. Pattern welding, forge welding, and traditional construction methods are part of the work, not shortcuts around it.
What you won’t find here:
•Imported blanks finished and resold.
•Mass produced anything.
•Speculation passed off as historical fact.
What you will find:
•Honest documentation
•Hand-forged work with the marks of the maker on it
•Pieces built to be used, not just displayed
I’m a husband, father, SCA armored fighter, I work full time in oilfield but, the forge is where I do my best thinking. This shop exists so the work can find the people who’ll use and appreciate it.
