How to Export Your Etsy Listings and Prepare Them for Drifa’s Leap

This guide walks you step‑by‑step through exporting your listings from Etsy, opening the file in Excel, removing items you don’t want to transfer, and saving the file in the correct format for upload to Drifa’s Leap.

Step 1: Download Your Listings from Etsy

  1. Log in to Etsy

  2. Go to Shop Manager

  3. Click Settings

  4. Select Options

  5. Open the Download Data tab

  6. Under Currently for Sale Listings, click Download CSV

Important: Etsy only exports active (live) listings. Drafts, inactive, or expired listings are not included.

Your file will download as a .tsv file (Tab‑Separated Values). This is normal.

Step 2: Open the File in Excel

Depending on your computer and version of Excel, one of two things will happen when you open a .tsv file. Both are normal and correct.

Option A: Excel Opens the File Directly

Some systems will open the .tsv file immediately and display the data in clean columns.

If your data appears neatly separated into columns (Title, Description, Price, etc.), you can skip ahead to Step 3.

Option B: Excel Opens the Text Import Wizard (Very Common)

On many systems, Excel will automatically open the Text Import Wizard as soon as you open a .tsv file. This does not mean anything is wrong with your file.

Follow these steps:

  1. When the Text Import Wizard – Step 1 of 3 appears:

    • Select Delimited

    • Check My data has headers

    • Click Next

  2. Step 2 (Most Important):

    • Check Tab

    • Uncheck all other delimiters (Comma, Semicolon, Space)

    • Click Next

  3. Step 3:

    • Leave column format as General

    • Click Finish

Your data should now appear in clean, readable columns.

Step 3: Review and Remove Unqualified Products

Each row represents one product listing.

You may now:

  • Delete rows for products you do not want to move to Drifa’s Leap

  • Remove seasonal, discontinued, or sold‑out items

  • Exclude products that do not meet Drifa’s Leap guidelines

  • Clean up titles, descriptions, tags, or materials if desired

How to delete a product:

  1. Click the row number on the far left

  2. Right‑click and select Delete

Do not delete or rename the column headers (the top row).

Step 4: Save the File for Upload

When you’re done editing:

  1. Click File → Save As

  2. Choose a location on your computer

  3. Select one of the following formats:

Recommended Format

  • CSV (Comma delimited) (.csv)Recommended

    • Preserves the header row correctly

    • Fully compatible with Drifa’s Leap uploads

Also Accepted

  • Text (Tab delimited) (.tsv)

    • Matches Etsy’s original export format

    • Safe alternative if needed

Please Do Not Use

  • CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)

    • May cause the header row to be skipped during upload

  • Excel Workbook formats (.xlsx, .xls)

  • CSV (Macintosh) or CSV (MS-DOS)

  • XML, Web Page, or PDF formats

  1. Click Save

If Excel shows a warning about formatting or features:

  • Click Yes or OK to continue

This is expected and will not harm your file.
