SCA Laurel medallion. Hand crafted from faience, an ancient glaze like medium often referred to as Egyptian faience or Egyptian paste. While typically associated with Egypt, examples have been found throughout the Mediterranean basin including the Aegean Sea and via trade in Rus and Norse settlements. This faience piece has a  glossy front surface (the back feels a little like unglazed pottery), the durability is similar to glass or ceramic.
