In the Italian fencing and fighting tradition, the lore of the late fourteenth / early fifteenth century master Fiore dei Liberi was continued in in the work of Filippo Vadi, whose Ars Gladiatoria seems to have been based on a version of Fiore's l'arte d'armizare taught in a civilian school context. Vadi's work is thus VERY well suited as an adaptation for Fiore to the more fencing-type applications of Renaissance martial arts, such as HEMA or the SCA's cut & thrust. Vadi trades power for speed and talks a great deal about geometry and time.

This pin is based on an image of the Italian master that survives in the Ars Gladiatoria treatise, currently in the Biblioteca Nazionale in Rome. It is about 1 1/2" tall and full of rich detail.

Made from high-detail bearing jewelers' brass, featuring a solid pin on the back side.
