The renowned Italian swordmaster, Fiore dei Liberi, was active in Friulia, Northern Italy, at the end of the 14th and into the first decades of the 15th centuries. His martial art, "arte d'armizare", taught combative use of the sword, dagger, spear, and poleaxe, in and out of armour, on foot and on horseback.
This pin is based Fiore's Segno, the lion figure which, entitled "audatia," stands for the fighting qualities of boldness and courage.
